About me


Biologist and Health Coach

I completed my PhD in biology at York University (Toronto, Canada), where I researched the genetics of feeding behavior. In my first Post-Doctorate fellowship, I investigated the genetic component of early embryonic development at the Faculty of Medicine in the University of Lisbon. For the last decade, my research interests at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia (University of Lisbon) have focused on functional genomics in edible plants, as well as toxicology. Although I am still actively involved in research at the University of Lisbon, since completing the Health Coach Training Program at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (New York, USA) I have spent a significant amount of time combining a scientific approach and powerful coaching techniques to provide personal care in health and nutrition. In my education and approach, the science of nutrition is redefined beyond traditional clinical approaches by taking into account many lifestyle factors such as what you eat, healthy relationships, a gratifying career, regular physical activity and a conscience of nature and natural processes.


My Health Coaching Experience

I am a firm believer in the power of knowledge and that, when it comes to our bodies, we are our own bosses. As I gain more experience coaching individual clients and groups, my belief in the power of health coaching to improve health, energy, and overall well-being continues to grow.Clients adhering to my 6-month individual program have had fantastic results in reducing weight, lowering cholesterol levels, managing chronic pain, dealing anxiety and managing complicated life decisions. In my group programs, including a 6-week course, my clients have successfully explored their relationship with food and expanded/improved their food choices towards more balanced and better quality diets.
